SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KCRA) — A Kennedy High School soccer coach, who
also worked as a ride-share driver, was arrested in connection with
human trafficking of teen girls, Sacramento County sheriff's officials
said Friday.
Elan Daniel Seagraves, 34, of Sacramento, was taken into
custody Christmas morning on charges related to human trafficking and
pimping of a minor, investigators said.
A 17-year-old girl called 911 just before 3 a.m. Monday,
telling that she was a victim of sexual assault and was being forced
into human trafficking, the sheriff's department said.

County Grand Jury for luring victims into human trafficking and forcing

Las Vegas Man Sentenced To 8 Years In Prison For Pimping 16-Year-Old Girl In Costa Mesa
Las Vegas man was sentenced Monday to eight years in state prison
after pleading guilty to pimping a 16-year-old Utah girl in Costa Mesa.
Brandon Antwan Hunter, 31, appeared in Orange County Superior Court on Monday for a scheduled preliminary hearing but instead pleaded guilty to charges of human trafficking of a minor, pimping a minor, pandering a minor and unlawful sexual intercourse, all felonies, according to court records.
Hunter, who identified himself in jail records as a producer, will be required to register as a sex offender, according to prosecutors.

Ex-Oklahoma Lawmaker Pleads Guilty To Child Sex Trafficking
A former Oklahoma
state senator accused of engaging in child prostitution and pornography
pleaded guilty Thursday to a federal charge of child sex trafficking.
Former two-term Republican state Sen. Ralph Shortey entered his plea
before U.S. District Judge Timothy DeGiusti in exchange for federal
prosecutors dropping three child pornography charges against him.
Shortey, dressed in a blue suit and wearing a GPS tracking device on his
left ankle, said nothing when DeGiusti ordered him back into federal
custody pending sentencing. Shortey removed his jacket and tie, and
federal marshals handcuffed him and led him away.

A Texas man accused of similar offenses in at least two other states
was arrested on a human trafficking charge Tuesday in Waco during an
undercover operation by the McLennan County Sheriff's Office.
An undercover investigator made a prostitution arrangement with a woman and agreed to meet at a local motel, according to an arrest affidavit.
While conducting surveillance, investigators saw Donquell James Allen, 29, leave the room where the woman agreed to meet and go to a car in the parking lot, the affidavit states. A detective went to the motel room and met the woman who was detained for investigation purposes.

2 Men Arrested In Elkridge In Drug And Human Trafficking Case
BALTIMORE (WJZ) — Two Baltimore men have been arrested in a drug and human trafficking case in which crack cocaine and money were being traded for sex with a young woman, police say.
Around 1 a.m. November 17, two officers were on patrol in the Elkridge area when they observed two suspicious men walking from the Hillside Motel in the 6300 block of Washington Boulevard.
After approaching the men and talking to them, the officers noticed one of the men reaching for an unknown object. When asked what he was reaching for, the man told officers it was a knife.
The officers say the same man, 34-year-old William Wyatt, was also carrying a handgun, seven vials of crack cocaine, five bags of marijuana, over $650 cash, two cell phones, and a key to a room at the motel.
Officers say the other man, 18-year-old Leroy Robinson, had arranged a prostitution appointment for Wyatt at the motel in exchange for drugs.
PCPD: Pair charged with human trafficking, forced prostitution
According to PCPD, more than one victim
reported being coerced by Crystal Marshall and Tyler Culver to perform
prostitution in return for room and board.
Crystal Leeann Marshall, 31, and Tyler Firand Culver, 27, recently had an arraignment date scheduled on the charges. They were arrested Nov. 18 at the La Quinta Inn, 1030 E. 23rd St., after meeting with undercover agents to allegedly arrange a sexual encounter with a victim. Marshall and Culver remain in custody at the Bay County Jail on bonds of $36,500 and $26,000, respectively, court records stated.

child prostitution ring was sentenced to 472 years in prison — the
longest sentence for a human trafficking case in U.S. history, according
to news reports.
Brock Franklin of Colorado was found guilty at a sentencing hearing Tuesday in Arapahoe County. He was sentenced to almost five centuries behind bars— four times the minimum required sentence, reported KUSA. Four others have already been sentenced for their involvement in the crimes.

Bradenton, Fla. -- Human trafficking, also known as modern-day slavery, is a crime some victims are too ashamed to report.
The numbers are staggering. According to dosomething.org between 14 and 17-thousand people are trafficked into the US each year, generating $32 billion dollars.
Recently, a Manatee County man was arrested on human trafficking. Deputies arrested 41-year-old Juan Cruz Jr. after one victim turned him in to deputies.
“Bravo to her to have the courage to come forward,” said Bradenton Police Chief Melanie Bevan. Florida Governor Rick Scott recently appointed Bevan to the Governor’s State Council on Human Trafficking.

"Ramsay the Great" Hip Hop Producer Pleads Guilty To Human Trafficking
ANAHEIM, CA — A 25-year-old Granada Hills resident and hip-hop music
producer known as "Ramsay Tha Great" was sentenced to 10 years in prison
for pimping four women in Orange County.
Brandon Christopher Ramsay pleaded guilty Tuesday to four counts of pimping and pandering, and one count each of human trafficking and assault with a firear — all felonies.

Sex Sting Leads To 277 Arrests In Florida
A cancer surgeon, a teacher, a pediatrician, an Air Force
veteran, a retired police officer and a colonel in the Marine Corps
were among the nearly 300 people arrested in Florida in a massive
prostitution sting, police say.
The undercover human trafficking operation, which was
called "Operation No Tricks, No Treats" and ran from Oct. 10-15, netted
277 people, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

On Jan. 8, 2015, Lewis, in DuPage County on business, went to a hotel in Aurora “with the intent to pay to have sex with what he believed would be a 14-year-old girl and a 15-year-old girl,” a statement from prosecutors said.

Agents arrested the Rev. Kenneth Butler, 37, of Kingdom Encounter Family Worship Center, without incident Wednesday evening. A spokesman for the U.S. Attorney's Office said Mr. Butler’s case is connected to the previous arrests of the Revs. Cordell Jenkins and Anthony Haynes.
In an affidavit filed in federal court Thursday, an FBI agent stated a victim told investigators she met Mr. Butler at Mr. Haynes' church when she was 15, and the two of them had sex when she was 16 on at least two occasions.

Sex Trafficking Arrest Made By Waite Park Police
A fourth man connected with a sex-trafficking investigation has been arrested by Waite Park Police.
Deandre
Jones, 22, of Minneapolis was arrested in the early hours of Saturday
morning after police received information he may be at a party in the
400 block of 29th Avenue North in St. Cloud.
At
about midnight, police confirmed Jones was at the residence. Officers
shocked Jones with a Taser after he tried to flee through a back
bedroom. No other injuries were reported.

A 22-year-old Tulsa man who ran an underage sex trafficking ring even after he was arrested was sentenced to 19 years in federal prison Monday.

Texas Man Sentenced To Prison In Human Trafficking Case
A Houston man arrested last year in
connection with a human trafficking investigation in Wichita Falls is
sentenced to 156 months in federal prison for promoting prostitution,
cyber stalking and firearms charges.
29-year-old
Joshua William Jackson was arrested in Wichita Falls in April in 2016
after SWAT and Homeland Security Officers raided a home at the corner of
9th and Kemp.
According to the federal arrest affidavit, we obtained ATF Agents found two handguns in his bedroom.
ATF Officers also say the North Texas Trafficking Task Force told them a woman accused Jackson of using force and coercion to get her to engage in prostitution around Texas.

9 Dead In Texas Suspected Human Trafficking Operation After Cops Find Dozens In Sweltering Trailer At Walmart Parking Lot
Nine people were found dead early Sunday inside a sweltering trailer at a Walmart parking lot in southwest San Antonio, and dozens more suffered from heat-related injuries in a suspected human trafficking operation, police and fire officials said.
Police made the tragic discovery after a man managed to get out of the truck and ask a Walmart employee for water, San Antonio Police Chief William McManus said. Some of the passengers escaped into a nearby wooded area as police opened the trailer, McManus said.

Woman Rescued, Two Charged With Sex Trafficking In Monroe County Sting
A Tennessee woman was rescued and two people were charged with
trafficking her through online sex ads during an undercover sting at a
Monroe County motel on Wednesday, according to court records.
Tarkira M. Bell 20, of Richmond, Va., Malik D. Edwards, 39, of Tobyhanna, allegedly met the victim days earlier in Charlottesville, Va., and asked her if she wanted to make money, records show. The victim wanting to get back to Tennessee agreed to go with Bell and Edwards, and they then forced her into prostitution, records show.

METAIRIE, LA (WVUE) -
A Metairie man has been arrested for one count of first-degree rape and one count of false imprisonment, and the Jefferson Parish Sheriff's Office is urging anyone else who has been victimized to come forward.
On July 9, deputies were dispatched to the 2100 block of Manson Drive in Metairie in what was initially a medical call for a female with a leg injury sustained in a fall. Deputies determined that the woman was trying to escape a physically abusive relationship, and that she had injured her leg while climbing out of a window to get away from 35-year-old Keston Mimmitt. Mimmitt was initially at the location, but left as the woman was being treated.

no money coming in after 16-year-old Desiree Robinson was slain.
Robinson was allegedly killed last year by a man who answered an online
sex ad.

Howard County police have arrested a third person in connection with a human trafficking investigation involving a 16-year-old girl.Jessica Lynn Smitherman, 31, of Laurel, was charged with human trafficking. Police said investigators believe that Smitherman conspired with Andre Lamar Russell, 28, of Laurel, and Heather Lynn Harding, 23, of Woodbine, in late May and early June to force the teen into prostitution at motels in Jessup.

MnDOT to Post Human Trafficking Messages at Rest Areas
Minnesota has the third highest number of human trafficking cases in the nation, according to the FBI
ST. PAUL, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation has announced it will be installing posters at 41 rest areas across the state to educate the public about human trafficking.
The posters include guidelines on how to recognize signs of human trafficking and potential victims, and a toll-free hotline to report any suspicious activity.

Hudson Man Sentenced For Sex Trafficking Homeless Woman In Woodbury
A Washington County judge has sentenced a Hudson, Wis., man to more than
seven years in prison for his role in the sex trafficking of a homeless
woman.
Adam James Krimpelbein, 32, was convicted May 24 on felony charges of aiding and abetting sex trafficking. He was one of two men accused of trying to traffic a 31-year-old woman who was listed as a missing person under civil commitment.

Prostitution sting nets 8 arrests in 4 hours
Eight men were arrested during a four-hour undercover online prostitution sting Wednesday, in one of the busiest single-day sting operations for local authorities, McLennan County Sheriff Parnell McNamara said.
McLennan County Sheriff’s Office investigators kicked off the operation at 7:30 a.m. when detectives posted an online advertisement for prostitution. Undercover officers arraigned for meetings with men at a local motel Wednesday and quickly received 24 responses in the first hour from men interested in paying a woman for sex, McNamara said.

City Council members learned Tuesday
that Dallas/Fort Worth and Houston are the two Texas metro areas with
the highest numbers of human-trafficking cases.
“Human trafficking is an issue,” said Ken Dean, assistant police chief. “It’s very rare you find just one victim. We have our fair share when it come to the numbers of human-trafficking victims. We have plenty of work to be done.”
Fort Worth’s major-case unit along with a detective, officer, two Homeland Security agents and a civilian task force coordinator investigate human trafficking in Fort Worth, Dean said.
Human trafficking involves forcing a person or child into the sex trades or other labor, he said.

BISMARCK, N.D. (AP) — An appeals court has upheld the conviction of a man accused of sex trafficking in the Williston area.
A federal jury in 2015 found Keith Graves guilty on five
counts of sex trafficking by force or coercion, and distribution of
methamphetamine. It was one of the first high-profile human trafficking
cases in the North Dakota oil patch.

The number of human trafficking cases in Montana doubled
in 2016 from the previous year, according to data from the Department of
Justice.
Law enforcement said the issue of human trafficking is
closely tied to prostitution, which is also growing in the state and
here in the Flathead Valley. In April, seven men were cited for
solicitation of prostitution after local law enforcement conducted a
two-day sting operation.

Eight Mexican Sex Trafficking Suspects May Face Life In Prison After Pleading Guilty To Racketeering Charges In NYC
Eight members of a Mexican sex trafficking ring admitted to racketeering and other charges as Brooklyn federal prosecutors and national authorities keep up the fight against sex slavery.
Prosecutors said the members of the Rendon-Reyes Trafficking Organization forced young women from Mexico and Latin America to prostitute themselves in places like New York and Georgia.
The ring held on to the cash from johns.
During their pleas, the defendants admitted to involvement in the trafficking of nine women, two minors and the prostitution of another woman.

Sterling Heights Man Pleads Guilty To Sex Trafficking Teen Girl
PONTIAC (WWJ) – A 35-year-old Sterling Heights man has pleaded guilty to human trafficking charges involving the sex trafficking of a 17-year-old girl.
Michigan Attorney General Bill Schuette says the case resulted from a tip last December from a 15-year-old girl who claimed she was also lured into prostitution by Andrew Golden.
The teen told investigators she’d been picked up in New Jersey several weeks prior by Golden and the minor victim, Schuette said. Golden allegedly stated that he would be taking the girls to Michigan where they would be advertised online for commercial sex.

"If I had seen the definition that said I was not a prostitute, that would have made a difference for me," Lucas told NBC News. "I was the kind of child that wanted to get help but there was none."
A pioneering Connecticut law aims to put signs explaining who a victim might be along with the phone number for the National Human Trafficking Resource Center hotline in every hotel lobby in the state.
